Birth is not just a physiologic event — it’s a nervous system event. The regulation or dysregulation of the people in the room shapes communication, decision-making, and ultimately the patient experience.
Every birth room has a nervous system. Most teams just don’t realize they’re part of it.
High-acuity perinatal care demands more than clinical skill. It demands the ability to stay regulated, communicate clearly, and make sound decisions under pressure, often all at once. Yet most clinical education focuses on the patient’s physiology without addressing the physiology of the care team.
The Regulated Room is a course designed to change that. It explores the intersection of nervous system science, team dynamics, and perinatal care, giving clinicians a framework to understand how their own regulation (or dysregulation) affects every interaction in the room.
Topics include nervous system fundamentals in clinical settings, communication strategies under stress, team co-regulation, and building sustainable presence in high-acuity environments.
